The Australian Media and Communications Authority (ACMA) is taking action against unlawful wagering platforms once more, directing internet providers to restrict connections to a number of additional websites.

Lucky7even, 50 Crowns, and Zota Bet are included in the newest group of sites to be prohibited. This action is a component of a broader initiative by the ACMA to limit illicit gaming within Australia. Their primary strategy: compelling Australian internet providers to block these websites. Since initiating this effort in 2019, they have obstructed over 900 gaming websites and halted 221 illegal operations.

Essentially, if a website provides unlawful wagering opportunities to Australians – consider online casinos, slot machines, or online sports wagering – it risks being blocked. The ACMA is also pursuing platforms functioning without proper authorization or offering unregulated services.

This development emerges while Australia’s gaming landscape is already facing instability. Even the prominent betting platform bet365 is under scrutiny by AUSTRAC for potential breaches of anti-money laundering regulations.

AUSTRAC, the financial crime authority in Australia, recently levied penalties on multiple businesses for failing to comply with anti-money laundering and terrorism financing rules. The organization’s chief executive, Brendan Thomas, delivered a stern caution, asserting that enterprises lacking strong risk mitigation strategies are essentially easy targets for illicit activities.

Furthermore, in news concerning dubious business operations, the Royal Hotel situated in Wollongong received a substantial penalty for a staggering 13 breaches of gaming regulations.

Lastly, the head of Tabcorp, Adam Rytenskild, was compelled to step down amidst accusations of unsuitable language at work. Although Rytenskild maintains he has no memory of the purported events, the corporation considered his conduct inconsistent with his position of authority, resulting in his exit.
