Crown Resorts has designated Anne Ward to its governing body.

This action follows a turbulent phase for the corporation, which encountered significant examination after the Bergin Inquiry. This inquiry deemed Crown unfit to possess a gaming permit in New South Wales and resulted in a substantial restructuring of the board.

Anne Ward offers a breadth of expertise, having held positions on the governing bodies of numerous firms spanning diverse industries such as finance, technology, and academia. She presently presides over two ASX-listed entities, Redbubble and MNF Group.

Ward conveyed her eagerness to become a part of Crown, remarking, “Crown has been an intrinsic element of my native city of Melbourne for numerous years, and I am thrilled to have the chance to engage with the Board and contribute to the trajectory of Crown.”

Taking effect on January 13th, Ward’s placement makes her the second woman director on the board, alongside Jane Halton.

The renowned Australian gaming enterprise, Crown Resorts, has received an updated acquisition proposal from the American private equity behemoth, Blackstone. Speculation abounds that the offer stands at $13.10 Australian dollars per share, equating to roughly $9.55 USD, for complete control of the company.

This development presents Crown CEO Helen Coonan and the board of directors with a significant deliberation in the near future. Adding another layer of complexity, the New South Wales Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority (ILGA) recently announced intentions to overhaul casino regulations and establish an independent supervisory body for the sector.
